In The Backyard
Before the throngs of family and friends descend on your home for the annual 4th of July get together, you’ll want to do what you can to create a festive, welcoming space to relax on the picnic blanket, play a few games, and socialize.
Here are some helpful tips to get you started:
Clean up the grassy areas: freshly mow the lawn, address pesky ants and mosquitoes, be sure the area is clean of all pet waste, and wash down walkways and outdoor furniture.
Have fun lawn games ready to go: giant Jenga, lawn darts, and corn hole are just a few your guests can enjoy.
Set up food and drink stations that are easy to access and allow guest to help themselves. Utilize both sides of your food table so people can move freely on either side, make creative drink stations (think wheelbarrow or mix and match galvanized tubs), and organizers that hold bigger quantities of utensils, napkins, and serving plates. With some planning, you can spend less time ensuring guests having enough to eat and drink and more time enjoying the company of your dearest family and friends.
Finally, use festive lighting to encourage your guest to linger. Cantina lights, decorative lanterns, and novelty luminaries will add a warm glow to your yard and invite your guests to take in the sunset transition into twilight. If you’re in Cali, don’t forget to have a warm fire pit or several cozy throws to ward off the evening chill.
Spending time with the ones we love is the best way to enjoy warm summer days and recharge our spirits after the cold, dreary winter months. Make your outdoor events the talk of the town and keep ‘em coming back for more!
Here’s to summer fun in the sun!!
