Summer is filled with opportunities to explore new places and expand the boundaries that winter sets. Most of us look forward to long weekends and adventures; all with the intent of making memories with family, friends, and the great outdoors.

Many of us can remember a family road trip, a favorite vacation spot, or the best place to find the most delicious cold treat on those lazy days of summer. That’s the feeling we hope to inspire with the newest collection in our artist collaboration series.

Welcome to Spring! This season we have the true pleasure of introducing an amazing artist to our collaboration project portfolio. Her bright illustrations have long inspired us with their energy, fun and a clear zest for life, and we are so glad to at long last be working alongside her:

There are places in life that call to you, that calm the spirit and settle the mind. Nature is all around and as the cold weather approaches there is always more to see, even in the bareness of a leafless tree or a grassless meadow. We need to take it all in and be thankful for a new season.

You know how you have a plan and you think it will work? You make a schedule, keep to a regular set of deadlines, and hope that what you are doing makes an impact on those around you? Art is that way, isn’t it?

Often our home is filled with all the things that bring us joy, remind us of family and friends, and reflect who we are in our most natural state.

Before the throngs of family and friends descend on your home for the annual 4th of July get together, you’ll want to do what you can to create a festive, welcoming space to relax on the picnic blanket, play a few games, and socialize.

It is so fascinating to see the creativity of artists in action. When we signed on Lea Wright as our next Artist Collaborator, we knew her print would be beyond beautiful, and we were not disappointed.

Moving into June the weather is getting warmer and days linger longer. Here at D&G we’re settling into the relaxing sights and sounds of summer. Who doesn’t enjoy a lazy day outside taking in the sun and spending time with those we missed during the hibernation season. It’s a perfect time to explore new places and open our world up to the beauty of the creative process. It’s even better when the world we open up includes artwork from our newest member of the D&G family:

We have officially completed our first ever artist collaboration. This process has been such a great learning experience and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product. We hope you feel the same way about this beautiful botanical print.

The time has come to step out of our comfort zone and embrace the unknown with our new Artist Collaboration project. We are so excited to offer limited edition prints created by artists across the country. We’re especially happy to be partnering with a wonderful artist that has been enormously helpful in some of the finer aspects of the “how to” for something we’re learning about as we move forward.

Time sure does fly! Last month we briefly shared our desire to collaborate with artists to bring to life beautiful, limited edition letterpress prints and we’re happy to say we have found some wonderful artists that are open to this project.

St. Patrick’s Day ranks right up there with the Big Three (T, C & E) as far as family gatherings go. It has become such a festive holiday that you can’t help but look forward to March 17th every year! Although it has its origins in religious ceremony, the holiday has evolved into one great big day of celebration for everyone on this side of the pond.

We get questions from time to time about where we source our materials and we wanted to share more about some of the resources we use in our small business. Since we’re all about supporting one another, it’s only fitting that we pass along some of the tips we’ve learned along the way. So, with out further ado…

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. There’s a lot more that goes into starting a business today than in years past. It used to be, idea + hard work = successful business. Not so today. Now it’s, idea + hard work + technical quagmire + global competition = just the beginning of a long road trip to a successful business.

Spring is on its way, yay!! While it’s nice to have four seasons, some are more tolerable than others; anyone seen the sunshine peek out from behind the storm clouds yet? Although winter means many different things, depending on where you call home, it’s certainly not fresh, bright, joyful Spring.

It’s really hard not to feel like we’re on an island sometimes as we’re building this creative body of work for others to enjoy. We have one another to bounce ideas off of, but because we share so many common likes, our “out of the box” thinking barely makes it beyond the tissue paper it’s wrapped in. Ah, but we have an idea…

Valentines Day, just the mere mention of it can set off a firestorm of strong emotions in almost any crowd of people. There is something about this day that either makes you smile or makes you cry, stirs a fond memory to the surface or drags you down a dark hole, offers hope or confirms your worst nightmare. What is it about this day that causes such polarizing opinions?

Do you ever have those days where you wake up and do the same thing you did yesterday? Not because you’re stuck in a bad dream, but because you’re stuck in the same pattern. Life is moving along, day by predictable day, one after another. It isn’t bad, it’s just blah.
