Summer is filled with opportunities to explore new places and expand the boundaries that winter sets. Most of us look forward to long weekends and adventures; all with the intent of making memories with family, friends, and the great outdoors.
Many of us desperately try to avoid the unrelenting heat and long, sun-drenched days in pursuit of the coolest river bank, or glorious shade tree. Who doesn’t raise their arms in celebration at finding the undiscovered spot near a lazy pond with a peaceful view and just enough breeze?
Those who dare to linger in the dog days of summer, with memories of refreshing dips in murky waters and whispered conversations on sun-kissed shores, will be sustained through future seasons of hibernation. So treasure the morning hikes, afternoon chats, and evening bonfires. Treasure the seed that turns into a flower, the drops of rain that make up the ocean, and the sun setting into a night sky.
Flowers may be separated by long stems and bushels of leaves, but often they bloom in groups, not alone. Remember this as you head out the door to meet those who share a passion for life. Tell them often that you are a better person for having known them. Send a note of thanks, well-wishes, or a simple “thinking of you”. You may make their day or bring a smile to their face, as we all should do as often as we can.
Here’s to summer!
