Moving into June the weather is getting warmer and days linger longer. Here at D&G we’re settling into the relaxing sights and sounds of summer. Who doesn’t enjoy a lazy day outside taking in the sun and spending time with those we missed during the hibernation season. It’s a perfect time to explore new places and open our world up to the beauty of the creative process. It’s even better when the world we open up includes artwork from our newest member of the D&G family:
Lea Wright
Lea received her BA from UNC Chapel Hill with a focus in printmaking. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles, California. Having no access to the large studio and presses from her college days, Lea adapted to her new minimal environment by teaching herself block printing on paper and fabric. Her interests continued to evolve to include textiles, fibers arts, and natural dye. Inspired by ancient symbols of storytelling through tapestries and nature, she began printmaking with natural dyes and mordants. Her current work features geometric, colorful patterns reminiscent of weavings on paper, reminding us about the stories and layers of our own lives through repeated patterns and shapes.

Lea currently lives in Rhode Island with her boyfriend, Tom, and their dog, Missie.
